Amy Hickey "partially" entered the Ford pickup — which has a manual transmission — parked in the driveway of a Compton Road home in Wantage and started the vehicle just after 2 p.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair said.

Hickey then got out of the truck, which rolled forward and struck her, police said. She was flown to an area hospital with serious injuries, police said.

A GoFundMe was launched for the Hickey family the following morning.

"Amy was involved in a serious unfortunate accident and has a long road of recovery ahead of her," campaign founder Diana Falica writes.

"The Hickey Family is one of the kindest most giving families our community has! We all know that medical bills are an expense no one can ever truly handle.

"Please find it in your heart to donate and help them with the long road ahead! All funds will go to The Hickey Family to offset any medical bills and to help support the coming weeks ahead where Joe, Dylin, and Kaylinn can be there for Amy and not have to worry about working endlessly."

The accident remains under investigation, police said. Click here to donate to the Hickeys.
